HALL OF FAME AWARD

PURPOSE: The HALL of FAME AWARD is to provide a permanent form of recognition for individuals, living or deceased, who have provided meritorious service or extra ordinary achievement to the Baltimore County Volunteer Firemen's Association or its member companies.

RECOGNITION: All inductees will have their name engraved on a suitable Hall of Fame award plaque located in BCVFA headquarters. A certificate and a lapel pin will be awarded to each individual and a photograph and article will be submitted to the appropriate local newspapers. Presentation of the award will be made at the awards banquet of the BCVFA.

ELIGIBILITY: The following criteria is required to be eligible for the Hall of Fame Award:

Must have a minimum of 15 years of service in a member company of the BCVFA
Must be a member in good standing of any member company of the BVCFA
Automatically inducted if killed in the line of duty (does not affect the limit of inductees)
Past Presidents of the BCVFA as of September 19, 2002 who have not been inducted in the Hall of Fame will be inducted in the Hall of Fame at the Awards Banquet. Thereafter, BCVFA Presidents will be inducted in the Hall of Fame at the Awards Banquet following the completion of their term of office. Past Presidents do not affect the limit of inductees.

QUALIFICATIONS:  In order to be nominated for a Hall of Fame Award, the following shall be considered:

Performed distinguished service to the BCVFA for an extended period of time
Performed distinguished service to the nominee’s member company for extended period of time
Provided exceptional performance while in an elected or appointed position of the BCVFA or member company

NOMINATIONS:  Nominations may be made by BCVFA member companies, BCVFA Executive Committee and Hall of Fame Committee members (Hall of Fame Committee members can not nominate committee members).  Nominations must be submitted in writing on the appropriate stationary and submitted to the Hall of Fame Award Committee no later than July 1st of each year.  There will be no limit on the number of times an individual may be nominated.

SELECTION: For the period of the year 2001 thru 2005 no more than 30 individuals will be inducted to the Hall of Fame.  Beginning in 2006 and each year thereafter, no more than 10 individuals will be inducted to the Hall of Fame.  The selections will be made annually by the Hall of Fame Award Committee by the August meeting of the BCVFA.  A quorum of five Hall of Fame Award Committee members must be present and the nominees must receive a majority of votes to be inducted to the Hall of Fame.  If there are less than 10 nominees submitted by the organization, the Hall of Fame Award Committee may select an individual who qualifies for the award.  The Hall of Fame Committee’s decision is final for the selection process and is not obligated to select the maximum number of inductees allowed in a given year.
